Canzona Chamber Players is pleased to present The Tenth Annual Memorial Concert for Elizabeth Krehm. Elizabeth passed away on November 17, 2012 in the ICU at St. Michael's Hospital. Elizabeth's family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care received by the doctors, nurses, and social workers at St. Michael’s. Every year since her passing, her family has held a memorial concert as a fundraiser for the hospital, raising over $200,000 to date. Now the Elizabeth Krehm Memorial concert serves to honour the memories of all cherished friends and family, through the healing power of music.

Mendelssohn's "Italian" Symphony is a celebration, an affirmation, and a meditation on life. Written at the peak of Mendelssohn's symphonic prowess, it represents a true journey. From the joyous opening movement, through the pensive pilgrim's march, onto the inward-looking intermezzo, and finally the unabashed fire of the saltarello in the finale, it is an uncontested masterpiece of the symphonic form. Come Closer: Songs on Texts by Elizabeth Krehm is a set of seven orchestral songs set to poems from Elizabeth's journals and school projects. It ranges from works she created between the ages of 6 and 16 and sees a journey from innocence to angst, but ending on a prophetic and hopeful tone in a poem Fantasy where Elizabeth talks about looking down from the sky, where everything is calm and peaceful.

Canzona Chamber Players is an annual classical and jazz chamber music concert series in its 20th year featuring some of Canada's top musicians. The series has been hosted at various venues on Toronto Island and in downtown Toronto. Founded by Jacob Stoller, Jonathan Krehm and Roger Sharp. We exist and thrive because of the enthusiastic support of the St.-Andrew-By-the-Lake Congregation and the Toronto Island community and our music patrons in the GTA. Over the pandemic Canzona filmed and broadcasted several recitals filmed and edited by Evan Mitchell and recorded by John S. Gray, which featured Winona Zelenka, Joseph Johnson and Jonathan Crow (TSO), Marie Bérard (COC), 2020 Juno recipient Angela Schwarzkopf, Yosuke Kawasaki and Jessica Linnebach (NACO) and more, all available on our YouTube Channel. In the spring of 2023 it is our hope to resume concerts at St-Andrew-By-the-Lake Church and city concerts will be hosted at 27 Sherbourne St., N., in Toronto.
