About St. Michael's Hospital

St. Michael’s was established in 1892 to look after society’s most vulnerable. Since then we have evolved into an academic critical-care facility and teaching hospital while staying true to our founding values of care and compassion.

We are now a major system resource, with care programs that include Trauma and Neurosurgery, Inner City Health, Diabetes and Comprehensive Care, Specialized Complex Care, Heart and Vascular Care, and Mobility.

St. Michael’s has been offering exemplary and compassionate care for 125 years. Through the new Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower, the expanded Slaight Family Emergency Department, the Element Financial Atrium and Way and other crucial renovations, as well as important education and research projects, we will transform St. Michael’s as we become the premier critical care hospital in Canada.
